Sri M. J. Ramanujam

A highly proficient ball handler, was a key game maker at BSU club as well as state levels. One among very few “thinking” players, he had the knack of dissecting the opponent team’s strengths and weaknesses and strategize accordingly.

An Engineering graduate , he worked with CIL as a senior engineering executive.

Sri Prakash Padukone

The badminton legend Prakash Padukone, known as the ‘Gentle Tiger’ on the court, was the first Indian Badminton player to win the All England Badminton Championship in 1980.

Achievements:
  • Won the national senior title consecutively for nine years
  • Won the gold at the 1979 Commonwealth Games
  • Won the Danish Open and the Swedish Open
  • Won the prestigious All England Badminton Championship in 1980.

Awards & Honors
As an honor to his extra-ordinary performance as a Badminton player at the National and International level, and his exceptional services to the nation through the game, Prakash Padukone was conferred with the Arjuna Award by the Government of India in the year 1972. Further, he was honored with the Padma Shri award in 1982.

The legendry Badminton player has been actively involved in guiding the management of Bharath Sports Union.

An Industrialist & Director of many Companies, Sports promoter having the credit of organising many prestigious tournaments which includes Women's Pre-Asian Championship & National Inter Zonal Championships for men and many All  India & State level tournaments. Former Vice President of Karnataka State Basketball Association and also a former Karnataka state basketball player.

Sri M. A. Parthasarathy

Strategy & Technology Expert

A former international basketball player himself, "Pachu", as he is known among basketballers, has represented the Karnataka State basketball for around 15+ years. Having captained the state team on several occasions, Pachu is also the proud receipient of the "Dasara Award". Pachu has an Engineering Degree (from RVCE) and a Diploma in Management as well as a Post Diploma in Computer Applications. Having been with Infosys for about 10 years with his last post held being the Associate Vice President, Pachu has a natural flair towards Web and Computer related technologies. The design and creation of this web site itself is one of the contributions by him. Working with S. R. Bharath, Pachu has designed a number of innovative skills development methods in the basketball area.

Former Karnataka state junior player has worked relentlessly over the years in building the BSU team.His expertise are in public relations & Media. Currently working as Manager in Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy.


Sri Sachin Belvadi

Chief Coach, Bharath Sports Union

A product of Bharath Sports Union, Sachin has undergone the rigor of tough training and mentoring at BSU club and State team levels. Sachin has many achievements to back his credentials both as a player as well as a coach. Academically Sachin has a Masters in Media Management and a Post Diploma in Public Relations and during his university days he represented the University team for 3 consecutive years, also being a captain in the last year, 1999. Sachin represented the Karnataka State junior and seniors continuously in various Nationals, South Zone and All India basketball tournaments between 1993 and 1998.

As a coach of various club, college and state level teams Sachin has perhaps the best of credentials to showcase his successes. In just a matter of 3 years (2007-2010) Sachin has coached his teams to the pinnacle of success at all levels. His wards have secured the "Runners" place for a record 9 times and a even stronger "Winners" place on 13 occasions. Perhaps very few other coaches have something similar to claim.
