BSU Hall of Fame

Bharath Sports Union takes pride in honouring some of their top notch achievers in the game of basketball at National and International levels. An amazing fact one cannot ignore is that all these sports celebrities figuring in the list below have also high academic & professional  achievements to boast about. The list is in the chronological order.


M J Ramanujam

( 1960 - 1975 )

A highly proficient ball handler, was a key game maker at BSU club as well as state levels. One among very few “thinking” players, he had the knack of dissecting the opponent team’s strengths and weaknesses and strategize accordingly.

An Engineering graduate , he worked with CIL as a senior engineering executive.

R Jairaj

( 1960 - 1980 )

A highly prolific and a sharp shooter, Jairaj was the most feared player by opponents. He was a regular member of the state team and went on to represent India in the Asian Basketball Championships at Tokyo, Japan in 1973 and Asian Games at Thailand in 1975.

An Engineering graduate, Jairaj worked as a Civil Engineer with Tata Consulting Engineers.

M A Parthasarathy

( 1968 - 1987 )

A combination of ball handling, good shooting and tough defence. Pachu was a mainstay of his team He was a regular member of the state team and went on to represent India in the Asian Basketball Championships at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1977 and was among probables for the Asian Games at New Delhi in 1982. Pachu was conferred with the Karnataka Rajyothsava Award in 1987.

An Engineering graduate, Pachu worked as an Associate Vice President with Infosys Technologies Ltd.

Dr. S. R. Aravind

(1972 - 1995)

One of the sharpest shooters ever produced by Karnataka State, Aravind was instrumental in many wins for his team, may it be the Bharath Sports Union, Bangalore University or the Karnataka State team. Undoubtably a true hero for any team he played. Starting from the State Boys team, all the way becoming the Captain of Karnataka State Men's team, Aravind had an illustrious and glorious basketball career at the peak levels between 1974 and 1989. He was conferred with the Karnataka Rajyothsava Award in 1984.

A Doctor by profession (Diabetologist), Dr. Aravind is the Director of Diacon Hospital, Bangalore.

Rajesh Srivastava

(1975 - 2001)

An aggressive, fast moving and a threat to opponents, Rajesh was a great asset to Bharath, the state and national teams. As shooting guard, Rajesh represented the Indian team during 1982 – 1995. He captained the Senior National team in 1991 and the Junior team in 1982. At the national level, he represented Bihar state team for 9 years, Karnataka for 4 years and U.P for 4 years.

An Engineering graduate, Rajesh currently works with Teradata as a Senior Solution Architect.
